Import

Planning to import goods from a country outside the EU? Then you will have to deal with customs. As soon as goods enter the European Union and are intended to be used within the EU, you must submit a declaration. Declarants helps you import goods from abroad. Discover our import services:

  • Taking care of the payment of import duties and taxes to customs.

Export

In addition to importing goods, Declarants also takes care of process surrounding the export of goods abroad. Do you export goods to a country outside the EU? Then you must submit an export declaration to customs. Declarants supports you with the following export services:

  • Completing and submitting the necessary customs forms, such as the export declaration form or client import declarations.
  • Providing advice on legislation and regulations in the field of customs and tax, such as the export duties and taxes that apply to certain goods.
  • Taking care of minimise the risk of nuisance during the export process, such as delays or physical customs checks.
  • Requesting a CvO (Certificate of Origin) or EUR.1 certificate at the Chamber of Commerce.

Transit and storage

Do you import goods from outside the EU and is it not yet known whether they will also remain within the European Union? Or do you have your goods temporarily stored in a customs warehouse? Then we speak of goods in 'transit'. In this case there is no customs clearance between import and export and you do not have to immediately submit an import declaration for your goods. This way you avoid paying import duties and other taxes. However, you do need to make a transit declaration with a so-called T1 document. Do you ship goods from/to or via an EFTA country (European Free Trade Association) such as Switzerland? Then you must be in possession of a T2 document.

Declarants also offers you the option of storing your non-EU goods in a customs warehouse (where your goods remain under customs supervision) including the necessary permits or transport to another place within the European Union, where the import declaration is provided on location.

Brexit

With Brexit, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union. The impact of this on international trade is significant. The most important changes on which Declarants can advice you:

  • All goods are subject to a mandatory customs declaration upon import
  • Deferred customs clearance are no longer possible
  • Customs controls when imported from the EU
  • Goods that comply with the 'Rules of Origin' are covered by the 0% VAT rate
